The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is ready to allocate 1.5 million hryvnias for emergency repairs to the heating network to restore heating in Mykolaiv Sanatorium Boarding School №7.
This was discussed at a meeting of the Commission on Science and Education of the Mykolaiv Regional Council on 7 February, according to NikVesti.
UNICEF plans to allocate these funds in the spring of 2025, said Alla Velikhovska, director of the Department of Education and Science.
«There is a letter. They promise that the money will be there in March. The children are now studying in shifts in a separate building, there are heaters there, and it is warm in the classrooms. There have been no major complaints so far,» she said.
However, this amount does not include the development of project documentation for the work, so it still needs to be allocated from the regional budget.
«This work is underway, and we are thinking about where and how to get these funds. You know that when we talked about opening the school, we discussed this situation with the director. We know and control it,» added Alla Velikhovska.
As a reminder, seven vocational schools in Mykolaiv that are currently in state ownership may be transferred to the balance sheet of the region.
