On Friday, 21 February, the government decided to allocate another 7.9 billion hryvnias for the purchase of drones.

This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

He noted that these funds will be redirected to the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection, which will make the necessary purchases.

He also said that in January this year, drone production increased 10 times compared to January 2024. In 2023 and 2024, our own production of artillery tripled, armoured personnel carriers increased 5 times, anti-tank weapons increased 2 times, and ammunition increased 2.5 times.

«At the same time, we are now producing about a third of the weapons we need ourselves. The government's goal is to bring our own arms production to at least half of the current demand. To achieve this goal, this year we have allocated a record amount of money for the modernisation of our own defence industry and the purchase of weapons», added Denys Shmyhal.

In April 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to allocate an additional 15.5 billion hryvnias for the purchase of drones.

As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently said that Ukraine is a world leader in the production of drones.
