Work on renovating the skate park on Kherson Highway is set to begin in May

Renovations are planned for the skate park on Kherson Highway in Mykolaiv, which is currently in a state of disrepair. Work could not begin before the warmer weather arrived due to the specific nature of the materials.

This was revealed in a comment to NikVesti by Ihor Holovatyi, director of the municipal enterprise DEZ «Pilot».

The skate park is managed by DEZ «Pilot». A preliminary decision had previously been announced that repairs were to begin in mid-March.

Ihor Holovatyi explained that repairs could not be carried out during the cold spell.

«We consulted with the material suppliers and specialists who have built such structures across the country. They confirmed that the work must be carried out exclusively during the warmer months. We then agreed that we would start work around April, not before,» said the director of DEZ «Pilot».

He noted that specific materials are required for the park’s renovation. These are already in stock at the company. Funding for the work is available, as the skate park’s renovation was planned for the end of the year.

«It’s quite a big job. It’s scheduled for May. It will be a repair, but a fairly large-scale one,» added Ihor Holovatyi.

As a reminder, this refers to the skate park opened in September 2020 following a win in the participatory budgeting competition. At the time, nearly one million hryvnias were allocated for its development. The site was created for cycling, skateboarding and rollerblading, and also features ramps for tricks. No major repairs have been carried out there since its opening.

The skate park has been in a state of disrepair for several years now. The city did not have the funds for a major refurbishment, but there were plans to renovate the structures.
