In Mykolaiv, 226 cameras from the «Safe City» CCTV system are currently not recording, although a total of 701 cameras have been installed across the city.

This came to light during an open staff meeting on Monday, 6 April, according to NikVesti.

As Andrii Volkov, the executive committee’s administrative manager, explained, some of the cameras are not working due to unfinished work within the capital project.

He also noted that the coordinates of two cameras are not displayed in the system for security reasons. At the same time, all 10 robotic cameras are currently operating normally.

When asked about the timeline for restoring the cameras that are not currently recording, Andrii Volkov stated that the company is awaiting funding, as the draft budget was being finalised.

«We will receive funding from the Department of Finance in the near future, as the draft budget was being finalised. We are currently working with the State Treasury Service and the Department of Finance,» he said.

Andrii Volkov also added that the city’s priority is to ensure that all 701 cameras are fully operational in recording mode. Should additional funding become available, the number of cameras in the system may be increased.

It is worth noting that in Mykolaiv, 60,7 millon hryvnias were spent over five years on the construction of the ‘Safe City’ information and telecommunications system for video surveillance and video analytics. As of December 2025, the project was 95% complete.

We would also like to remind you that the city recently purchased software for 4.6 million hryvnias, which will automatically process traffic data recorded by the cameras.

According to police data, in 2024 the «Safe City Mykolaiv» CCTV cameras helped solve 94 crimes, and in 2025 — already 135.
