In the Mykolaiv region, a modular boiler house, provided free of charge by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), has still not been connected to the network. This refers to the boiler house for the hospital in Pivdennoukrainsk — it is the only one in the region that remains out of service.

This was reported during a meeting of the regional housing and utilities commission by Yurii Hranaturov, deputy head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, according to NikVesti.

According to him, international partners have provided the Mykolaiv region with several modular boiler rooms, which have been installed in 15 hospitals across the region. They run on alternative fuel and are intended to provide heating in the event of emergencies or potential blackouts.

One such boiler room was transferred to Pivdennoukrainsk back in 2023. It was fully installed using donor funds, but to get it up and running, it only needed to be connected to the hospital’s main system.

«It’s simply a matter of connecting it to the main system. It requires a small amount of money and simple engineering solutions — to draw up the technical design documentation for the connection and then connect it,» noted Yurii Hranaturov.

Prolonged delays in resolving this issue could even lead to the need to return the donor aid.

«It has come to the point where the international organisation has discussed with us the issue of relocating this boiler room. We do not agree with this and would like the authorities in Pivdennoukrainsk to resolve the matter,» said Yurii Hranaturov in a comment to NikVesti.

The official also reported that the head of the medical facility attributes the delay to the fact that the city cannot convene a session to adopt the necessary decisions. According to Yurii Hranaturov, the problem has remained unresolved for many months, and in fact — for years.

He noted that the head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration and the chairman of the regional council are aware of the situation, yet there has been no progress in resolving it.

«It’s simply a case of mismanagement. This is a very serious problem, especially for IDPs receiving treatment at this hospital,» he said.

Yurii Hranaturov emphasised that he personally bears responsibility for this issue, and that attempts had already been made to take the boiler room away, but he had prevented this.

«I didn’t let them take it away and promised that we would resolve this within a short time. Everyone promised me they would sort it out — and nothing has been sorted out,» he added.

He called on the regional commission and the leadership of the regional council to get involved in order to break the deadlock.

It should be noted that over 100 boiler houses have been set up in the Mykolaiv region since the start of the full-scale war.
