Photo: NikVestiToday, 4 May, the Central District Court of Mykolaiv imposed a preventive measure on Iryna Bondarenko, head of the city’s sports department. The court remanded her in custody until 26 June, with the possibility of bail.
This was reported by a correspondent for NikVesti.
Prosecutor Ihor Belianskyi asked the court to remand Iryna Bondarenko in custody with the option of bail set at 500 times the minimum subsistence level for able-bodied persons. This amounts to over 1.6 million hryvnias.
Iryna Bondarenko’s defence team considered the charges of fictitious employment to be unfounded. The lawyers requested that she be placed under night-time house arrest as a preventive measure.
Judge Halyna Podzihun delivered her ruling. Iryna Bondarenko was remanded in custody until 26 June. However, the request was granted in part: the bail amount was set at 832,000 hryvnias.
As a reminder, on 29 April, Iryna Bondarenko, head of the sports department at Mykolaiv City Council, was charged with embezzlement of public funds. The sum in question is over half a million hryvnias.
Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych told NikVesti that Iryna Bondarenko would be suspended from her post for the duration of the investigation.
On 4 May, the court suspended Iryna Bondarenko from her post.
