The travelling photography exhibition ‘Water’ in Mykolaiv. Photo: Alona BuryAs part of the «Jam Fest» charity festival in Mykolaiv, the international travelling photo exhibition «Water», dedicated to environmental crises and their consequences, is taking place at *8 Prychal.
This was reported by a correspondent for NikVesti.
Serhii Melnychenko, a Mykolaiv-based photographer, founder of the MYPH school of conceptual and art photography, and one of the organisers of this exhibition, told NikVesti that, following an open competition, 15 photographers from Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Ukraine were selected to explore the theme of water: from documentary reportage to poetic visual essays.
«Even foreign artists are working on the theme of water in Ukraine. Among their works are photographs of the Kakhovka dam and the Kakhovka reservoir, destroyed by the Russians,» commented Serhii Melnychenko.
According to him, the exhibition has a socio-environmental aim — to remind people of the need to treat water with care as one of the main resources for the existence of humanity and all life on Earth.

However, following discussions with the organisers of «Jam Fest» and partners from Slovakia, it was decided to bring the exhibition to Mykolaiv.
«Mykolaiv is a city on two rivers, so this exhibition resonates well with its geographical location. It was important to me that it had some connection to our city. So I’m very pleased that we managed to bring it to Mykolaiv and organise it here,» he told NikVesti.
It is noted that the project was prepared by the Slovak Press Photo Foundation with the support of the Visegrad Fund, HERALD Europa, the Institute of Creative Photography, Bialystok Interphoto and the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy.
The photo exhibition will run for a few more days.
