From a technical point of view, Poland is able to close the sky over the western regions of Ukraine, for this the country has enough Patriot air defense systems with a large radius of action, but political will is needed.
Illia Yevlash, the spokesman of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this on the air of the Yedyni Novyny telethon, Ukrinform cites.
«There were already talks that Poland could close the sky in the western regions of our country, which would allow us to use those stations and launchers located in the West of Ukraine, in other directions. Of course, theoretically and technically, this possibility could be, since Poland has air defense systems with a long range, in particular Patriot systems. However, this requires political will, and this is more a conversation between our diplomatic corps and the top military leadership, who can agree to it,» said Illia Yevlash.
He also noted that such a decision would «make life easier» for the Air Force of Ukraine.
«We could use scarce installations to combat tactical aviation, guided missiles, cruise missiles. Of course, it would be very useful for us,» summarizes the spokesman of the Air Force.
It will be recalled that the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that during the night attack on April 27, the enemy used Calibre, but did not launch Shahed drones. It is emphasized that the Russians took a break for a while, and now they have started again to carry out classically powerful attacks on Ukrainian energy and critical infrastructure.
