More than 67,000 women serve in the Armed Forces

19,000 of the 67,000 women in the Armed Forces are civilian employees, the rest are military personnel. The war gave a huge impetus to the increase in the number of women in the ranks of the Armed Forces.

Deputy Minister of Defense Nataliia Kalmykova reported this.

She noted that this process began back in 2014, and in 2018, due to changes in legislation, women received the right to hold any position in the army. At the same time, there are problems with the promotion of women.

«In Ukraine, a fierce war with Russia, which attacked us, has been going on for the eleventh year. A full-scale war has been going on since February 2022. The process of serving summonses is not an automatic ticket to war, but first of all, updating the data of Ukrainian citizens. Yes, following a summons, it is possible to call up a conscript for military service. This is a normal process in a country at war. We should not forget that it is the duty of every Ukrainian to defend his country. Because if you run away from war today, it may come to you tomorrow,» said Nataliia Kalmykova.

As previously reported, during the first week of operation of the recruiting center of the Ukrainian army in Mykolaiv, 12 women and 40 men applied there.
