Lieutenant General Yuriy Sodol at the award ceremony of Mykolaiv marines, May 202135 separate brigade of marines officially appealed to political figures with a request not to call the commander of the United Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Yurii Sodol «butcher» in the information space.
The brigade's statement posted on its official Facebook page explains that such slogans create tension among servicemen.
This, in particular, was preceded by some publications in social networks of the People's Deputy from «Servant of the People» Mariana Bezuhla.
In her last post, the People's Deputy called Yurii Sodol a «secretive butcher.»
«Sodol — The leader of the front since February 2024. A secretive «butcher» who hides everything that any boss needs. Unprepared Kharkiv region, Avdiivka (he was responsible for this direction under Zaluzhnyi for a very long time, and now he is responsible for almost the entire front, a useful general for the Central Committees),» wrote Mariana Bezuhla.

«The new head of the front, General Sodol, is a criminal. Syrskyi allowed him to appoint «his»: Halushkin, Sokolov, Lutsenko. Not by skills, but by belonging to the general faction of Sodol. Halushkin overwhelmed the defense of Kharkiv Oblast. I managed to replace him. Now here is Drapaty. After that, Sodol tried to block me along the entire front. Sokolov has a criminal case against Chonhar and is currently responsible for the section of the front. Lutsenko missed Ocheretyne breakthrough to Pokrovske and was not punished,» she wrote.
In response, the 35th separate brigade stated that such accusations against the lieutenant general were unacceptable. The military is asked not to enter the sphere in which society does not understand.
«They create a certain tension among soldiers, who regularly perform combat tasks at the risk of their lives. The brigade named after Rear-Admiral Ostrohradskyi has always tried to stay out of politics. Therefore, we advise some public figures and people's elected representatives to also take an example from the military. And do not get into the field in which you do not fully know yourself,» urged the Odessa marines.
Who is Yurii Sodol?
From the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, General Yurii Sodol took part in the defense of Mariupol and the battles near Volnovakha. In 2023, Sodol led an operational-tactical group in the Uhledar direction.
According to the decision of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi in February 2024, Yurii Sodol became the commander of the United Forces of the Armed Forces.
Since 2018, Sodol has been the commander of the Marine Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In April 2024, he became the head of OSU «Khortytsia».
Although this appointment caused indignation in the network, because the entire eastern front falls on Sodol, while accusations of improper material provision of fighters, which led to losses, are thrown at him.
