The third International Medical Mission «Face the Future Ukraine» has started in Ciscarpathia. It involves a team of 15 plastic surgeons from the USA and Canada who, together with Ukrainian doctors, will perform facial reconstructive operations on wounded soldiers and civilians during the week.

This was reported by the head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Military Administration, Svitlana Onyshchuk.

In total, it is planned to carry out 30 surgical interventions on patients with severe landmine-explosive wounds of the face and neck. Breast reconstructive operations and training for oncologists will also be carried out as part of the mission.

During the previous two «Face the Future Ukraine» missions, a team of specialists restored physical health and aesthetic beauty to 60 Ukrainians.

All operations are free of charge for patients.

It will be recalled that in February in Lviv, Ukrainian surgeons performed a complex microsurgical operation for the reconstruction of the lower jaw on 25-year-old Andrii Hrushka for the first time. Andrii Hrushko is a military serviceman from the village of Chkalove in the Kherson Region. At the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, he was serving in Donetsk region, where on March 12, 2022, Russian debris crushed his jaw.
