The mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, said that despite the fact that 2.7 billion were taken from the city budget for the needs of the army, the Ukrainian military continues to appeal to the deputies for help.

He said this on August 1 during his live broadcast on social networks, writes NikVesti.

The mayor responded to the questions of local residents about the repair of roads and intra-district passageways in Mykolaiv and explained that the city's improvement and the army's aid are at the same time «in the balance».

«No matter how much you put on one scale (necessity, — note) to put benches there, build intra-quarter passageways, children's playgrounds and help from the Armed Forces — on other scales. Help from the Armed Forces will always come first. Therefore, the deputies and I are trying to divide these funds as fairly as possible and help the army, although our state, our people's deputies, and our Ministry have told everyone that we are now taking money from the cities. For example, 2.7 billion were taken from Mykolaiv, this money will go to help the Armed Forces,» Oleksandr Sienkevych said.

At the same time, the Ukrainian military continues to turn to the local authorities for help.

«We are trying to help them,» added the mayor.

Earlier it was reported that the residents of Mykolaiv Oblast paid more than ₴431 million in military tax for half a year.
