Deputy Mayor of Mykolaiv for Humanitarian Affairs Anatolii Petrov believes that the fence and central arch at the entrance to the town of «Kazka» are not copyrighted works owned by the family of architect Vadym Popov.
This is stated in the article NikVesti «From arch to metal fence: The controversial decision of three Mykolaiv cultural workers».
In particular, when asked whether the dismantling of the arches from Soborna Street was agreed with the owners of the rights to the architectural work, the vice mayor said that copyright does not apply to the fencing elements of the children's town.
«The complex of entrance arches (inv.101310009) is part of the general fence and is not subject to copyright», replied Vice Mayor Anatolii Petrov.
Although the entrance arch of the children's town «Kazka» dismantled by cultural figures is made in the same architectural style as the rest of the ensemble. The same arches can be seen around the amphitheatre and other parts of the town. This confirms that the arched structures are part of a holistic architectural concept developed by Vadym Popov and are not a separate or alien element.
Today, the heiress of the copyright is his wife and co-author Olha Popova. However, the authorities did not coordinate the demolition of the structure with any of the Popov family members.
«Vadym Pavlovych is no longer with us.... And I was not approached,» Olha Popova told NikVesti.
It should be noted that Anatolii Petrov was appointed to the post of vice mayor after the 2020 local elections. Prior to that, he served as the head of the Bashtanka District Council.
As you know, the emergency arch at the entrance to the children's town «Fairy Tale» was dismantled on 11 March. Earlier, local residents complained about its condition, fearing that the structure might collapse.
As a reminder, residents of Mykolaiv complained that a pack of dogs «was attacking passers-by with strollers» in the children's town «Kazka». The director at the time, Nataliia Demchyshyna, called this situation exceptional and said that there was no security on the territory of the children's space from the budgetary institution.
After this incident, the townspeople complained about the entrance to the playground from Soborna Street, which is in a state of disrepair. The columns are cracked and in some places whole pieces of concrete are falling off.
The entrance was not fenced off three days after the news was published. As of 4 February, Mykolaiv residents continued to use it despite the potential danger.
On 6 February, it also became known that Natalia Demchyshyna, the director of the children's town «Kazka», had resigned from her position. Only on 7 February did the town's employees block the entrance with tape.
