The Novo-Odesa City Council has received confirmation from the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO). Under the project, Novo-Odesa is set to receive a €4.4 million grant for the comprehensive reconstruction of the city’s water supply system.
This was announced by Mayor Oleksandr Poliakov during a session of the Nova Odesa City Council on 15 May, according to NikVesti.
The mayor informed councillors that, prior to the meeting, they had received official confirmation from NEFCO regarding the approval of the project for the comprehensive reconstruction of the water supply system in Nova Odesa.
«The grant will amount to 4.49 million euros. Co-financing from the local authority will be 500,000 euros — that is approximately 26–28 million hryvnias,» said Oleksandr Poliakov.
NEFCO has asked the Nova Odesa City Council to prepare draft decisions on co-financing and to designate authorised signatories for the documents. The councillors are to approve all this at an extraordinary session, tentatively scheduled for 12 June.
«We will have to proceed in stages, and construction work will begin next year. I would remind you that this involves the construction of a completely new pumping station, which will be located underground, in accordance with the design featuring solar panels and an autonomous power supply, naturally operating at full capacity,» added the mayor
As a reminder, in Nova Odesa, there are plans to repair the main water pipeline along Tsentralna Street and Prybuzka Street. The cost of the works has been estimated at 9.1 million hryvnias.
As a reminder, Pivdennoukrainsk also plans to participate in a green recovery project from the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO). As part of the project, the city plans to renovate sewage pumping stations and the pressure domestic sewage system, as well as purchase solar panels with batteries. The total cost of this project is 5.5 million euros.
