International Monetary Fund, a lender to Ukraine

IMF, the International Monetary Fund, is an international financial institution and one of Ukraine's main lenders during the war. As of January 2026 it was led by Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, who visited Kyiv that month. In 2026 Ukraine works under a new four-year Extended Fund Facility worth USD 8.1 billion: a second tranche of USD 690 million arrived in July, and in September Ukraine risked losing the next USD 1.66 billion over unmet conditions. As of July 2024 Ukraine's debt to the fund reached USD 13.85 billion, the second largest in the world.

MykVisti covers IMF tranches and how they are spent, programme reviews and missions to Ukraine, the laws the fund requires and its forecasts for Ukraine's economy.
