In October 2023 doctors in Ukraine performed the country’s first heart and lung transplant, and in January 2025 the first repeat heart transplant. In 2024 Okhmatdyt hospital transplanted part of a mother’s liver into her five-month-old baby for the first time in Ukraine. In 2026 organs from deceased donors, including children, saved several lives at once.
