Eduard Shevchenko

former 73rd SSO centre commander convicted of treason

Eduard Shevchenko is the former commander of the 73rd Maritime Centre of the Special Operations Forces in Ochakiv, who later became an adviser to Ochakiv mayor Serhii Bychkov. Prosecutors say Russian intelligence recruited him back in 2018, that he passed on secret data and plans of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and tried to recruit the mayor. In December 2023 the case went to the Zavodskyi District Court of Mykolaiv. On 1 April 2026 the court found Shevchenko guilty of high treason and sentenced him to 15 years in prison. He is appealing the verdict at the Odesa Court of Appeal.

MykVisti has followed the trial from the start, reporting on hearings, prosecution evidence, the questioning of witnesses including the mayor of Ochakiv, and the appeal.
