The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, signed the law on the use of the English language in Ukraine.
This became known from the card of Law No. 9432 on the website of the Parliament.
The law provides for the official establishment of the status of English as one of the languages of international communication in Ukraine. They will also determine those positions for which candidates must necessarily know the English language.
It will be recalled that the president submitted a draft law on the English language to the parliament in 2023, and at the beginning of June 2024, the Verkhovna Rada adopted it in the second reading. At the time, they also supported an amendment that provides budget support for cinemas for showing English-language films in the original language.
It was also previously reported that the state will provide financial assistance to citizens to pay for English language courses through the «ePidtrymka» program.
