On Sunday, June 30, a weekly action in support of Ukrainian prisoners of war and missing persons was held in Mykolaiv at the intersection of Tsentralnyi Avenue and Mala Morska Street.
As the correspondent of NikVesti reports, the relatives and friends of prisoners of war, as well as caring residents of the city, came to the rally. They stood with posters, flags of different brigades, photos of their loved ones who are in captivity, with a call to return them home.
«My son has been in captivity for the third year, and for the third year we have been trying to get him exchanged, but so far nothing has come of it. He wanted me and my children to move from Chernihiv Oblast due to heavy shelling, so I made his dream come true and now we live in Mykolayivska. We come to the city every Sunday and participate in similar actions,» said Olena, a participant in the rally.
Adults and children held placards with reminder slogans: «In captivity, the living envy the dead,» «The will of the marines,» «You fought for me, I fight for you,» «The free must fight for the captives,» «The will of the captives,» etc.
Nadiya said that she has no relatives or loved ones who are in captivity, but she came to the rally because she believes that it is now important to support people who are waiting for their loved ones from captivity. The woman notes that now it is important not to forget about the military and civilians who were in Russian captivity, and to achieve their release.
«I think that it is important for boys and girls returning from captivity to see people's support. We must show that we have not forgotten about them, support and wait for them. Also, I think it's worth reminding the city's residents that the war is still going on,» the girl added.
Daria, a resident of the city, came to the rally because she wants to support people who are waiting for their loved ones to be released from captivity.
«I know guys who returned from captivity, I spoke with them and I understand what they experienced there. I want to support those who have already returned and the families of those who are still waiting,» she said.
