130 hectares of forest burned in the Mykolayiv region in 2023

Since the beginning of the year, the rescuers of the Mykolaiv Oblast have put out 58 fires in forest areas.

Thus, in 9 months of 2023, 138 hectares of forest plantations burned in the region, reported the Department of Emergency Situations in the Mykolaiv region.

The rescuers emphasized that the main factor in the occurrence of such fires is careless handling of fire. Also, shelling of the region by the Russian army played a significant percentage.

The State Emergency Service noted the most high-profile forest fires that occurred during the year. Thus, the most damage was caused by a fire on the territory of «Andriiivsky Forest Tract» on August 20-21, as a result of which 50 hectares of forest were destroyed.

— The main factors that make it difficult to put out such fires are large areas where the fighting took place remain mined, the absence or remoteness of water sources, and abnormally dry and hot weather, — said the deputy head of the fire prevention department of the State Emergency Service of the Mykolaiv Oblast, Serhiy Hinjul.

He also noted that since the beginning of the year, 67 protocols have been drawn up for the spontaneous burning of dry vegetation. Another 24 protocols were issued for violation of fire safety rules. In general, the perpetrators of the fires have already paid more than 275 thousand hryvnias in fines.

We will remind that back in August, the area of burning forest plantations in the Mykolayiv region was 50 hectares. So, in just one month, firefighters of the Mykolaiv region extinguished 22 forest fires with an area of 88 hectares.
