In Mykolaiv, there are over 560 potholes left after water pipeline repair works that have not yet been paved. Some of them appeared back in 2023.
This was reported by the director of Mykolaivvodokanal, Hennadii Iziumov, during a staff meeting, according to NikVesti.
As is known, Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych is dissatisfied with the number of potholes on city streets that have appeared due to repair work on the water pipeline, regional heating and power plant.
«There are excavations carried out by the water utility, and there are those carried out by contractors. This week, all contractors are being gathered, there are four companies that have problems with both excavations and fencing. Accordingly, there will be an understanding of when they will finish the work and what measures will be taken against them. We have over 560 orders for asphalting, which have been pending since 2023. I wanted to discuss with you separately the possibility of additional funding to close these 'tails'. The funding we have today is enough for approximately 50-60 excavations that arise in the water canal, which we could eliminate in an operational manner,» said Hennadii Iziumov.
We would like to add that a representative of the Mykolaiv Thermal Power Plant said that the company will asphalt the closed excavations as soon as weather conditions permit.
We would like to remind you that there will be no large-scale pothole repairs on the roads of Mykolaiv for about another month due to unstable weather conditions and the wetness of the road base.
According to Vitalii Shevchenko, director of the municipal enterprise ELU Avtodorig, this winter has seen a large number of frosts and thaws, which have led to the destruction of the asphalt pavement. Today, the company is only carrying out emergency spot repairs using special equipment, known as a «repairer».
