Lubinets: an «all for all» exchange with Russia is unlikely in the near future

Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, said that an «all for all» exchange with Russia is unlikely in the near future, as the enemy is not interested in it.

He said this at a press conference, Ukrinform reports.

«Do I believe there will be a major exchange in the near future? No, I don't. I will explain why. The difference in numbers. Yes, she really is. There are many more detained Ukrainian citizens on the territory of the Russian Federation. Do we discuss it? Yes, we do. Do we discuss it with our partners? Exactly. Do I see partners supporting our position? Definitely. Do I see the readiness of the Russian Federation to do this? No, I don't» said Dmytro Lubinets.

The Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada also reminded that during the last exchange it was possible to return people from the territory of Belarus for the first time.

«We saw a difference in the attitude towards the citizens of Ukraine. Even in detail. We returned civilians both there and there. Both there and there we talked. We even saw the physical condition. That is, the citizens of Ukraine from the territory of Belarus did not say about the use of any torture, beatings... Yes, we believe, legally interpret that they were illegally convicted, but there was no torture,» he said.

It will be recalled that the human rights organization «Media Initiative for Human Rights» reported that almost 1,300 servicemen from the Mykolaiv 36th Separate Brigade of Marines named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilinskyi are in captivity in the Russian Federation.

Earlier, Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets stated that the Russians are forcibly detaining more than 14,000 Ukrainian civilians. It is very difficult to return them, unlike military personnel or children.

It will be recalled that each of the more than 600 interviewed civilians or military personnel who were held captive by the Russian Federation spoke about torture and ill-treatment.
