In Mykolaiv, the city budget will be able to cover the cost of sanatorium and resort treatment for 5–10 war veterans this year.

At a meeting of the executive committee on 13 May, the procedure for reimbursing the cost of such trips was approved, according to NikVesti.

This involves compensation for the cost of treatment packages for military personnel with war-related disabilities, funded by the budget of the Mykolaiv City Territorial Community.

As explained by Serhii Vasylenko, head of the city council’s Department of Labour and Social Protection, state funding for this area has been suspended during the period of martial law, so the city is taking on the responsibility of providing such support.

«State funding for sanatorium and resort treatment has been suspended for the duration of the war. However, given that a large number of young men with severe injuries are returning, we will use local funds to provide compensation for such spa treatment to 5–10 people with war-related disabilities, specifically from 2014 to the present day,» noted Serhii Vasylenko.

Under the approved procedure, free vouchers will be available to:

  • people with Group I war-related disabilities — together with an accompanying person;
  • people with war-related disabilities of Groups II and III.

Veterans will have the right to choose a health resort in Ukraine themselves, in accordance with their treatment profile.

The duration of the health retreat will be 18 days, and this opportunity may be taken no more than once a year. Vouchers will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis following the submission of a complete set of documents to the district departments of social payments and compensation.

The maximum cost of a voucher to be reimbursed by the city budget will be:

  • up to 15,030 hryvnias — for veterans with disabilities;
  • up to 12,024 hryvnias — for accompanying persons of Group I veterans.

The programme will be funded within the limits of the funds allocated in the community budget for 2026 as part of the city’s «Social Protection» programme.

We would like to remind you that in May, a meeting was held at the Mykolaiv City Veterans Support Centre between representatives of the veterans’ community, employers and Danish partners, during which the implementation of the project «Ukraine — Denmark: Veterans’ Employment Partnership» was discussed.

We would also like to remind you that in Southern Ukraine, it has been decided how budget funds will be used to reimburse the cost of sanatorium treatment for veterans and military personnel. Those eligible for benefits will receive vouchers at the expense of the budget.
