Mykolaiv City Council has appealed to Ukroboronprom and the Ministry of Culture to resolve the issue of the destroyed architectural monument of local significance — the administrative building of the «Mykolaiv Shipyard».

This was stated by Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych during a staff meeting today, 15 June, according to NikVesti.

«Another important issue is the preservation of cultural heritage. We are talking about the Admiralty, which has suffered a serious attack and damage. The City Council has already approached «Ukroboronprom» and the Ministry of Culture regarding this building. So far, no measures or responses have been taken. The building continues to deteriorate due to the weather and rain. Perhaps we need to appeal to other bodies, perhaps to specific ministries,» said Oleksandr Sienkevych.

As a reminder, the administrative building of the «Mykolaiv Shipyard» was damaged as a result of the shelling of Mykolaiv on 27 April 2023. At that time, Russia fired four Kalibr missiles at Mykolaiv, launching them from the Black Sea, according to Vitalii Kim, head of the regional military administration.

NikVesti journalist Olena Kozubovska found herself trapped under the rubble after a Russian missile struck a five-storey building, which was destroyed in the centre of Mykolaiv. She sustained injuries to her hands.

Following this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the night-time shelling of Mykolaiv with Kalibr missiles by Russian forces.

NikVesti published a photo report from the impact sites.
