Today, 3 July, Vitalii Kim, Head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, introduced Ivan Kukhta, Head of the Pivdennoukrainsk City Military Administration, to the council, representatives of law enforcement agencies and military leadership. One of the tasks set is to enhance the community’s defence capabilities.

This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration.

The Pivdennoukrainsk Military Administration was established because the Pivdennoukrainsk City Council had been unable to convene for almost half a year. As a result, more than 100 draft resolutions were not considered, and the signing of an agreement with NEFCO to receive a €5.2 million grant from Denmark for the reconstruction of the drainage system was blocked.

Also present were MP Artem Chornomorov, First Deputy Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration Vitalii Shcherbyna, Head of the Voznesensk District Military Administration Oleksandr Kukuruza, and the Mayor of Pivdennoukrainsk, Valerii Onufriienko.

During the introduction, Vitalii Kim noted that the main task of the military administration in Pivdennoukrainsk is to ensure the stable functioning of the community and the fulfilment of all its responsibilities under martial law.

«As of today, the military administration is officially commencing its work. The most important thing now is to ensure the uninterrupted management of the community, the stable operation of all services and the fulfilment of tasks under martial law. I am convinced that the newly established military administration will work effectively, transparently and in the interests of the residents of Pivdennoukrainsk,» said Vitalii Kim.

Ivan Kukhta stated that he was ready for an open dialogue.

«I would like to thank the President of Ukraine for his trust, and our defenders — both men and women — for the opportunity to serve the state. In my work, I will focus on open dialogue, mutual respect and constructive cooperation with the council members, the city council, all services and the residents of the community. I am convinced that only by working together can we ensure the stable development of Southern Ukraine,» said Ivan Kukhta.

MP Artem Chornomorov expressed his readiness for constructive cooperation to develop the community.

The Mykolaiv Regional State Administration noted that the particular importance of the Pivdennoukrainsk community stems from the fact that the Pivdennoukrainsk Nuclear Power Station, the Tashlyk Hydroelectric Power Station and the Oleksandrivka Hydroelectric Power Station are located within its territory, ensuring the energy security of Ukraine’s southern region.

Vitalii Kim, Head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, outlined on Telegram the tasks set for the administration and its new head.

«The task is to enhance defence capabilities. These military administrations have been established in all satellite towns of nuclear power stations, as these are strategic towns. Separate tasks have been set for veterans’ affairs and for social issues. The task is to get to grips with the situation and assist local government,» said Vitalii Kim.

As a reminder, on 2 July, the President signed a decree establishing the Pivdennoukrainsk City Military Administration. It is headed by Ivan Kukhta, who has led the Snihurivka City Military Administration since 2022, following the city’s de-occupation.

In May 2026, the mayor of Pivdennoukrainsk, Valerii Onufriienko, told NikVesti that there was currently a need to establish a military administration in the city.

In addition, Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, submitted documents to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy requesting the establishment of a city military administration in Pivdennoukrainsk.
