About 40 houses in the private sector of Mykolaiv were damaged by a rocket strike in the morning of February 7. At least 12 people were injured.
The Mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, told about this on the air of the telethon, NikVesti writes.
Mykolaiv was hit by Shaheds and air-launched missiles around 6 am. Representatives of the night shift team immediately went to the place to record the consequences, the mayor said. Two locations were under attack by Russian troops: a residential sector and an infrastructure object.
«About 40 private houses were damaged in the residential sector, a rocket hit the road, and a large gap was formed. The blast wave and debris damaged roofs, windows, and partially destroyed buildings. One person was hospitalized, but unfortunately, around 8 o'clock in the morning, the man died in intensive care. He suffered severe mine-explosive and craniocerebral injuries. A few more people were lightly injured: they were treated on the spot,» he said.
The second location, which was struck, was hitting a building on the territory of an industrial facility. Emergency services arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire almost immediately.
Oleksandr Sienkevych added that there were no military personnel or equipment at any of the locations.
«We haven't had such shelling for a long time. I won't say that it was a surprise, but the shelling interrupted a long period of silence. There were no military objects or equipment that could be hidden there. It was just a private sector area. As always, they will probably report that they hit some military facility, but there are no facilities there,» the mayor assured.
