Mykolaiv City Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych expressed support for his fellow party member and Mayor of Dnipro Boris Filatov after his statement about pressure from law enforcement agencies.
Oleksandr Sienkevych published the corresponding post in his Telegram channel.
As you know, yesterday the mayor of Dnipro from the Propozytsiia party posted a video appeal to the citizens on his social networks, accusing law enforcement officers of the death of his deputy Mykhailo Lysenko and systemic pressure on the city council, calling it a «campaign to destroy local self-government.»
«The city community needs to know how werewolves in epaulettes falsify evidence, conduct investigative actions without court orders and falsify examinations. I can announce that they are not stopping anytime soon. They killed a person and will continue to harm others,» said Borys Filatov.
In response to this, Oleksandr Sienkevych called for an end to putting pressure on city councils and mayors during a full-scale war and the withdrawal of the «military» personal income tax. Despite these challenges, the mayor of Mykolaiv noted, city leaders continue to perform their work properly.
«I can't be aloof, especially when it concerns a colleague. Dnipro is under Russian attacks almost every day, the front line is getting closer, «zhduns» (people waiting for the Russian authorities on the territory of Ukraine, — note) are being discovered. The city council, despite the loss of personal income tax, continues to help the army and keeps the city in good condition. Borys Filatov's post is already, as they say, boiling over. I could be silent and pass by, but that is not in my principles. I will say one thing — now is not the time for political games and attempts to suppress local self-government. We are working and doing our job well, despite all the challenges we face. Any external pressure can have a bad effect on the life of cities and citizens. We worked and are working for the sake of the people,» Oleksandr Sienkevych wrote.
It is worth adding that in the post, the mayor of Mykolaiv attached a link to the news from the website of the publication Ukrainska Pravda, which the day before announced about systemic pressure from the Office of the President on the team and individual journalists.
It will be recalled that earlier the director of the Institute of Mass Information, Oksana Romaniuk, appealed to the authorities to respond to the systemic pressure exerted on Ukrainian journalists.
