The European Union is ready to play its full role together with its partners in the upcoming peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.

This was stated by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen on the social network X.

According to her, the European Union welcomes today's news from Jeddah on the US-Ukraine talks, including the proposal for a ceasefire agreement and the resumption of US intelligence sharing and military assistance.

«This is a positive development that could be a step towards a comprehensive, just and lasting peace for Ukraine. The ball is now in Russia's court. The EU is ready to play its full role together with its partners in the upcoming peace talks», Ursula von der Leyen said.

Earlier, Head of the Presidential Office Andrii Yermak said that Ukraine was ready to accept the US proposal for a temporary ceasefire for 30 days.

Earlier today, the Ukrainian delegation met with US representatives in Saudi Arabia. After the meeting, the head of the Presidential Office, Andrii Yermak, said that Ukraine had expressed its readiness to accept the US proposal for a temporary ce asefire for 30 days.

Earlier, during a speech to Congress, US President Donald Trump said he had received a letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to Donald Trump, the letter states that Ukraine «is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring a lasting peace», as well as to sign an agreement on minerals.

It should also be recalled that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is ready to sign a minerals agreement between Ukraine and the United States at any time and in any convenient format.

At the same time, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitrii Peskov said that the foreign policy approaches of the Donald Trump administration «largely» in line with the Kremlin's position. At the same time, he acknowledged that the US-Russia relationship still has a long way to go to improve, but with political will, it can be «overcome quite quickly».
