Russia comments on the US-Ukraine talks: Moscow will determine its own position

Commenting on the talks between the United States and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow would determine its position on its own.

According to her, «the main news» will come from Moscow, so, in her opinion, one should follow the events not in Jeddah, but in the Russian capital, the Russian news agency TASS quoted her as saying.

«The position of the Russian Federation is not being shaped abroad through any agreements or efforts of any parties. The position of the Russian Federation is being shaped within the Russian Federation,» Zakharova said.

Earlier it was reported that following a meeting in the Saudi city of Jeddah on 11 March, Ukraine agreed to the immediate introduction of a 30-day ceasefire if Russia also took this step.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that this would apply «not only to missiles, drones and bombs, not only in the Black Sea, but also to the entire front line».

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the United States will submit a proposal for a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine to Russia and hopes for its acceptance.
