Zelenskyy: «We will talk about security guarantees in detail if there is silence for 30 days»

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that a detailed discussion of security guarantees for Ukraine will take place if Russia agrees to 30 days of silence.

He expressed this opinion today, 12 March, during a press briefing on the results of the talks between Ukraine and the United States, according to NikVesti.

He stressed that everything depends on whether Russia is ready for a ceasefire or whether it «wants to continue killing people».

«We will talk about security guarantees in more detail, if there is silence for 30 days, then these 30 days are allocated precisely to put it on paper. We have our proposals, but we need to put on paper the agreed steps with our allies and the formats of certain security guarantees that Ukraine will receive after the end of this war. Today, everything depends on whether Russia wants a ceasefire and silence, or whether it wants to continue killing people. Today it depends 100% on this country. Because America has demonstrated its steps and its position, Ukraine has demonstrated its position, responded without any different interpretations, very directly, and today Russia will have to respond to this», Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

As a reminder, yesterday the Ukrainian delegation met with US representatives in Saudi Arabia. After the meeting, the head of the Presidential Office, Andrii Yermak, said that Ukraine had expressed its readiness to accept the US proposal for a temporary ceasefire for 30 days.

For his part, Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukraine accepts the US proposal for a temporary ceasefire for 30 days, now «if Russians agree, the silence will work».

Earlier, during a speech to Congress, US President Donald Trump said he had received a letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to Donald Trump, the letter states that Ukraine «is ready to sit down at the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring a sustainable peace», as well as to sign an agreement on minerals.
