The leaders of the North Atlantic Alliance agreed that the member states should provide long-term security assistance to the armed forces of Ukraine.

The Alliance adopted a decision in which it undertook, in particular, commitments regarding the amount of aid to Ukraine for 2025, reports «European Truth».

The decision that NATO member states made by consensus:

«We confirm our determination to support Ukraine in building a force capable of defeating Russian aggression today and deterring it in the future. To this end, we intend to provide a minimum base funding of EUR 40 billion over the next year,» the statement said.

In addition, the Alliance committed itself to long-term assistance to the Armed Forces, not just support in 2025, in order to «ensure a stable level of security assistance to Ukraine, taking into account Ukraine's needs, national budget procedures and bilateral security agreements that Alliance members have concluded with Ukraine».

Next year, at the summit in The Hague, the heads of state and government intend to review the contributions of the Alliance members. It is also possible to review the amount of aid, based on Ukraine's needs, at future NATO summits.

«We confirm our unwavering commitment to Ukraine as a sovereign, democratic, independent state,» NATO leaders said, expressing confidence that their assistance has a significant effect on supporting Ukraine in resisting Russian aggression.

We will remind that on June 13, NATO member states approved the «operational plan for strengthening support to Ukraine», which includes increasing NATO's participation in the supply of weapons and training of the Ukrainian military.
