Ukraine initiates the convening of an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council after shelling of civilian objects, including the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this on Monday, June 8, during the signing of the security agreement with Poland.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the need to join forces in the fight against Russia's aggression, which was again striking the civilian population. The President called today's attack another act of terrorism aimed at the civilian population and children undergoing treatment.

«Support is very important in such moments, in such difficult days and mornings as today. The attack on the hospital, which treated children suffering from serious diseases, and what cynicism the bastards from the Kremlin show again in this, because already now, if you heard the signals that it was Ukrainian air defense, that it was Ukrainian air defense, not theirs a calculated strike. I am grateful to all the Ukrainians who started publishing videos that clearly show not a part of this or that missile, but a direct missile strike that injured and killed many people in Ukraine today. Everything that was destroyed by these terrorists will be restored and we will respond to these inhumans from Russia,» Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

In addition, Zelenskyy initiated the convening of an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss Russian aggression and its consequences for the civilian population. He emphasized that Ukraine cannot cope with this threat alone and called on the world community to unite and take decisive action against Russia.

«We must all work to hold Russia accountable for terror and Putin for ordering strikes. To everything that they try to discuss peace with them, Russia responds with strikes on houses and hospitals. That is why we can only force Russia to make peace. Only together can we do it, everyone in the world who really wants peace. This requires sufficient determination and truly joint action. None of the countries can stand alone against this influx with Russia. Ukraine does this, but in alliance with our partners side by side. He is now initiating the convening of an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council in connection with the Russian attack on civilian infrastructure, including a children's hospital,» he said.

We will remind you that the Russians fired almost 40 missiles at various Ukrainian cities. Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Sloviansk, and Kramatorsk were affected during the attack.

Debris from enemy missiles was recorded in six districts of Kyiv. During the rocket attack on the capital, the National Children's Specialized Hospital «Okhmatdyt» was also damaged. The clinic has preliminary knowledge of five dead and 11 injured. The mayor of the capital Klitschko added that 6 victims were hospitalized. Later it turned out that Russia hit the «Okhmatdyt» with an Kh-101 cruise missile.

Russia also shelled Kryvyi Rih. Currently, it is known that ten people died, 31 people were injured.
