₴10 million is needed to rebuild the Palace of Culture in Ochakiv: the city authorities are looking for a donor

10 million hryvnias are needed for the reconstruction of the Ochakiv Palace of Culture in Mykolaiv Oblast, which was destroyed by Russian shelling.

Currently, the project of reconstruction of the institution has already been developed and the city council is looking for a donor who will finance these works. This, as noted on the DREAM website, will allow «to build an effective mechanism for meeting the needs of residents based on the principles of inclusiveness, to ensure proper living conditions.»

Reconstruction of the Palace of Culture is part of the Ochakiv Restoration Plan for the period until 2027. This document passed public discussions and was approved at the session of the city council on July 25, 2023.

Two years before the full-scale war, in September 2020, to celebrate the Day of the City of Ochakiv, the Ochakiv city government opened a completely renovated building of the Palace of Culture. Its repair lasted three years, and the cost of the works amounted to about 5 million hryvnias.

The Ochakiv Palace of Culture was shelled in June 2022. As a result, the building of the institution was destroyed. That day, three people, including a 6-year-old girl, died during the shelling of the city. After that, Ukrainian TV presenter Kateryna Osadcha showed a photo of the dead girl and called on the world to close the sky over Ukraine.

And President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine used all international levers to hold Russia accountable for state terrorism through strikes on civilian objects, in particular in Ochakiv.

We will remind, the deputy head of Mykolaiv RMA Mykola Marinov said that it will take years to restore tourism in Ochakiv after it leaves the war zone. But within six months, he added, it will be possible to demine the beaches and partially restore Ochakiv as a resort town.

In general, 92% of residents of the Ochakiv community believe in the restoration of the community after leaving the war zone. They see it as «blooming», «successful» and «tourist».
