In Mykolaiv, preparations are underway for the dismantling of the apartment buildings damaged by the Russian attacks at 35 Zavodska Street. Residents are taking away their last belongings, and no one lives in the buildings themselves, except for the homeless.
This is stated in the report of «NikVesti».
The impact on the territory of the residential sector occurred in April 2022. Then, due to the attack and the power of the blast wave, all three houses around were damaged.
However, in spite of this, some residents of the house continued to stay in their apartments until the moment of complete disconnection of communal services, say the parents of local resident Pavlo, with whom «NikVesti» managed to communicate.
— A year before the war, our son bought an apartment in this house. He stayed here until the last days, until the lights were turned off in the house, then he rented another place for himself. At the time of arrival, he was in the house, came home from work, rested, slept. No one lives here for a long time, except for the homeless. In general, there was such beauty here, people lived their lives. It was so quiet, it was rare when the train made noise. It was very nice. Although the house was old, he really liked living here, — says the man.
Now local things are scattered around the house and in the middle of each apartment: clothes, photos, household items. The territory is overgrown with grass and ragweed. Pavlo's parents claim that after the incident, no one guarded the house, so property was stolen from each apartment, and homeless people settled in the building itself.
— Do you see the condition of this house? Every door was broken, and where it was not possible to break them, because they were simply impenetrable, they broke windows, bars, and climbed inside. We still had time to come and pick up something, but they took away everything from the poor people here, — says Pavlo's mother Olena.
In May, Mykolaiv City Council approved a list of buildings damaged by Russian strikes, which are subject to complete and partial dismantling. Among them are three houses at 35 Zavodska Street. However, due to the fear of being left with nothing for a long time, some residents did not consent to the demolition.
— The son said that two weeks ago there was a meeting of the residents, they decided on the issue of documents. The consent of the last person was needed, she was found, and she gave her signature for the dismantling. All documents have now been sent to Kyiv, we will wait. A commission was already coming from there, — they say.
No one knows for sure what the government promises as compensation to residents who lost their homes. But a mandatory condition for compensation was removal from the place of residence.
— I don't know what they should give us. There was a condition: to get out of there. And only then they are issued for compensation. They quarreled a lot, they said that they would be deceived, but it seemed that everyone agreed. Compensation is offered to us, but there is associated with quadrature, in relation... I don't know how it happens, — said Pavlo's parents.
When asked what, in their opinion, could appear on the site of the building after dismantling, they suggested that the territory could be taken by the port or the creation of a shelter for Mykolaiv residents affected by the war.
As a reminder, two more objects were added to the list for dismantling by a new decision from October 11.
Earlier it was reported that the Mykolaiv City Council is developing a mechanism that will allow the demolition of houses damaged by enemy strikes with the «tacit consent» of the co-owners.
