«They think that the site is attractive for the construction of estates», — Sienkevych assumed why Mykolaiv residents are protesting against the dismantling of their destroyed housing

Residents of two buildings in Mykolaiv refuse to consent to the dismantling of dilapidated parts of the buildings due to the fear that their plots of land may become the object of construction of estates.

This was announced by Mykolaiv City Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych during a conversation with journalists, «NikVesti» writes.

The situation concerns one of the entrances at Krylova Street, 54, and a house at Prykordonna Street, 43. Oleksandr Senkevich noted that he is trying to help the residents, but some of them refuse to cooperate, which leads to the delay of reconstruction and housing restoration projects.

— We have two problem houses, where it is necessary to dismantle the entrances in order to build them anew, and the residents do not want to do this. Some of them think that the plot is very attractive for the construction of some estates. For example, on Krylova Street, in the residential sector, someone decided to build an estate or on Prykordonna Street. Sometimes it reaches absurdity. You want to do good to people and rebuild housing, but it just turns into some kind of a mess, — said the mayor.

The mayor noted that there are options for residents to receive compensation payments to purchase new housing or wait for housing to be restored, but some people remain opposed to these options.

— It's fine, let them stand their ground, but it causes problems for other residents. I don't know a single person who wants to build an estate next to a dilapidated house, but it seems that such thoughts exist. This inhibits reconstruction and rehabilitation of housing, and it negatively affects the entire community. The World Bank allocates funds for compensation for destroyed housing, there is a state program — this is not a program in the city of Mykolaiv, many people throughout the country have already received certificates, implemented them and received new housing. In the city of Mykolaiv, people are waiting. I think that after the positive end of the story with other houses, where 100% of residents agreed and they will see the real action and they will agree, but you know how late it would be, — added Oleksandr Senkevych.
