Zaluzhnyi about the mobilization of 500 thousand people

The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valerii Zaluzhnyi commented on the plans to mobilize 500,000 people into the ranks of the Ukrainian army.

He stated this on the air of the «Edyni Novyni» telethon.

«The military command did not make any request for any numbers there. The military command continues to perform the function of protecting the state and accordingly shapes its requests for ammunition, weapons and human resources. This is done on an ongoing basis. We do not do this in a separate format, by calling on the Cabinet of Ministers or the Verkhovna Rada. We exercise our powers in accordance with the functionality we are endowed with,» said Valerii Zaluzhnyi.

He also noted that the figures of 400-500 thousand mobilized people were formed for the next year.

«It takes into account the coverage of the current shortage that has arisen. Formation of military units and forecasting our losses that we can sustain during the next year. I cannot voice this number and which number refers to one or another section of these indicators. This is a military secret,» he explained.

We remind that they want to mobilize another 450 to 500 thousand soldiers in the Ukrainian army to repel the Russian invasion. But the financial and political conditions of this step have not yet been clarified. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called mobilization a «sensitive issue».

Also, the head of the «Servant of the People» presidential faction, David Arahamia, said that on December 25, the government should introduce a draft law on mobilization, which he is working on at the request of the military. «I hope that colleagues from the Cabinet of Ministers will finish their part of the work in the near future. Because the absence of this draft law creates uncertainty and a large number of fakes».
