Russian shelling damaged the external overhead line through which the Zaporizhzhia NPP received power from the Ukrainian power system for its own needs.
This was reported by the press service of «Energoatom».
«On August 22, Russian shelling caused damage to the PL-330kV external overhead line of the Zaporizhzhia TPP — Ferosplavna,» the report says.
It is indicated that Zaporizhzhia NPP is currently connected to the Ukrainian power system by only one PL-750kV Dniprovska line. If it is damaged, an emergency situation may arise due to the loss of external power to the pumps that cool the active zones of the reactors and the fuel storage pools.
It was previously reported that the experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) could not establish the exact cause of the fire at the cooling tower of the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
The fire, which was recorded on August 11, stopped on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
It was also reported that the situation with nuclear safety at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is deteriorating due to the impact of a drone that hit the road near the territory of the NPP.
