Zaporizhzhia is a city in Ukraine and the administrative centre of Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

The city is under constant Russian attack by missiles, guided aerial bombs and drones: in May 2024 a Kh-59 missile destroyed the airport terminal, in October 2025 a missile destroyed a dormitory, and in March 2026 guided bombs hit residential blocks. Russia strikes the Dnipro hydroelectric plant and industrial sites, and after attacks on the power grid in December 2025 the Zaporizhstal steel plant had to halt work. The occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has suffered at least 16 blackouts since the full-scale invasion began. The State Property Fund tried to sell the Zaporizhzhia aluminium plant, but the auctions failed.
