President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian men who are abroad will not be forcibly returned to Ukraine. At the same time, 7.5 million Ukrainians — both adults and children — must be returned home to Ukraine from abroad.
He told about this at the «Ukraine 2024. Independence» forum.
He emphasized that the return of Ukrainians is necessary, in particular, to ensure the country's economy after the war. There are currently 10.8 million pensioners in Ukraine, and 7.5 million Ukrainians are abroad.
«The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will not have enough strength not to lose 7.5 million Ukrainians. I discussed this idea without Dmytro Kuleba, but with the Prime Minister of Ukraine. Because it is about the government, and he is the head of our government. We discussed that this is a very difficult mission for any ministry. I am not talking about people, personality, but about the institutionality of this process,» he said.
Earlier it was reported that the Prime Minister of Moldova, Dorin Rechan, emphasized that the country will comply with international human rights legislation, commenting on the Ukrainian authorities' request for the return of men who escaped mobilization.
