Fragments of glass have still not been removed from the stands of the Central City Stadium in Mykolaiv after the Russian shelling, which happened two years ago — in June 2022.
The editors of NikVesti were told about this by reader Anastasia, who attended the children's competition held at the city stadium at the beginning of October this year.
«On these homemade «children's!» games, the city stadium was opened for all willing fans. Of course, the parents of our young football players came to the stadium, especially as Shakhtar and Chornomorets were visiting. The condition of the stands in front of the guests was a shame. More than two years have passed since the arrival, and the garbage (earth, glass that flew from the administrative building directly to the stands) is still lying in the rows between the seats,» Anastasia said.
The girl emphasized that the current state of the stands, where there is still a large amount of glass, is dangerous for children who can freely move through them.
«This is a situation where funds, tenders and the like are not needed. You just need to clean with a broom and a scoop. In addition to the shame in front of guests from other cities, this is also a huge danger for children, because the glass flew over almost an entire sector. The fence in the form of a red ribbon has become «tired» in two years, so the passage to the glass-covered sector is free, children are running on the steps. Everyone read about the history of the Zoria sports complex, but it turns out that the situation at the central stadium is not better, even cleaning was «saved» for two years, added Anastasia.
One of the last events that took place at the Central City Stadium with the participation of children were the matches among children's and youth teams on September 28 and October 5-6, 2024. Relevant publications with photos were published on the Facebook pages of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the City Council and the Specialized Children's and Youth Sports School of the Mykolaiv Olympic Reserve.
We will remind, on June 28, 2022, Mykolaiv was hit by a missile. A S-300 missile fired by the Russian army hit the lawn, creating a funnel and damaging the fence and facilities located near the field.
And in a year and a half after the Russian shelling at the stadium, the running tracks were not resurfaced. In a comment to the NikVesti correspondent, the director of the Central Stadium, Volodymyr Kosse, said that in 2023, work on the restoration of the running tracks will not be carried out. At the same time, he confirmed that the tracks are really in a poor condition, so he will ask the local authorities to allocate funds from the budget for their restoration in 2024.
Today, Volodymyr Kosse no longer holds the position of manager of the Mykolaiv Central City Stadium. He resigned due to an internal review by the city government after an article by NikVesti about the issuance of false checks to patrons of a communal swimming pool.
