Due to the full-scale aggression of Russia, the population of Ukraine decreased from 42 million to 35.8 million people.
This was stated by ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets.
He added that by 2051, the population in Ukraine may decrease to 25.2 million people, and that is why the state has undertaken to finance the storage of reproductive cells of Ukrainian servicemen and women if they suffer injuries that affect reproductive functions.
However, according to Dmytro Lubinets, the state does not sufficiently inform the population about possible medical guarantees, and therefore emphasizes that such information should be strengthened, as well as the legislation on biological parentage should be improved.
«The issue of reproductive health and preservation of the gene pool of the Ukrainian people is critically important and should become a priority of state policy,» the ombudsman emphasized.
We will remind that the population of Mykolaiv as of the end of 2024 has increased by 63 thousand people compared to last year.
As you know, as of February 1, 2022, the population of the city, according to estimates, was 469 thousand 545 people. In 2023, the mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkovych, stated that about 350-360 thousand people live in Mykolaiv, of which about 56 thousand are internally displaced persons.
However, according to mobile operators, as of February 1, 2024, this number increased to 423,225 people.
