In his traditional Christmas message on 25 December, Pope Francis mentioned the war in Ukraine and called for its cessation and negotiations on a just peace.

This was reported by European Truth.

«Let the weapons be silent in long-suffering Ukraine! May there be enough courage to open the door for negotiations and gestures of dialogue and meeting to achieve a just and lasting peace,» the Pope said.

In addition, he recalled the events in the Middle East, where he wished for the silence of weapons, as well as the release of hostages and assistance to the population exhausted by hunger and war.

We would like to remind you that Pope Francis called for a ceasefire in all war zones in his Sunday prayer on Christmas Eve, 22 December, emphasising the need for a «Christmas truce».
