Demand remains consistently high for general labourers and cooks in the Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, where salaries range from 15,000 to 19,000 hryvnias.

At the same time, across the frontline regions as a whole, the number of applications is falling for almost all popular vacancies: the sharpest decline is among sales assistants, construction workers, seamstresses, car mechanics and sales consultants. Conversely, interest is growing only in certain roles, notably general labourers, baristas, cashiers and drivers.

Looking specifically at the Mykolaiv region, the labour market in May this year centred on several key professions. The highest number of vacancies was for sales assistants — 189. Next came general labourers (in construction) — 186 vacancies — and drivers — 183. There was also steady demand for porters — 98 vacancies — and cooks — 84 vacancies.
