Russian attack drones struck one of Kyiv’s universities whilst classes were in session. The students were taking shelter at the time.

This was reported by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

«Today, Russian Shahed drones struck one of Kyiv’s universities — right during the lectures. Fortunately, the students were in a shelter — 160 of them,» said the head of state.

According to the president, Russia is effectively testing tactics for the use of strike drones, which it may use against other countries in the future.

«Unfortunately, the reaction from the international community and the most influential leaders to this latest Russian escalation of strikes has been insufficient. When Russian-Iranian Shahed drones are inflicting such round-the-clock terror in Europe, this cannot remain a problem for our country alone. Every such attack on Ukrainians, every such use of Shaheds and other weapons against our towns and villages — is in fact Russia practising tactics that they are preparing to use against other countries and other peoples,» he emphasised.

Zelenskyy called on partners to step up pressure on Russia and increase support for Ukraine. Among the necessary steps, he cited strengthening Ukraine’s air defences, imposing sanctions against Russia and boosting defence production.

He recalled that Russian troops had also attacked Odesa during the night. A residential building and urban infrastructure were damaged there, and five people were injured, including a child.

In Kherson, a building housing emergency services and the police was damaged as a result of a Russian strike. In the Kharkiv region, thousands of people were left without electricity due to shelling, and there are reports of injuries.

The President also noted that air raid alerts are in force across many regions of Ukraine due to the threat of attacks by jet-powered drones and aerial bombs.

It was previously reported that on the morning of 2 September, the Russians attacked Mykolaiv, presumably with a Shahed drone. The strike damaged seven residential buildings and three cars.
