Germany will provide Ukraine with a new package of military aid in the amount of 650 million euros. Already in December, the sixth IRIS-T air defense system, Patriot launchers and Gepard anti-aircraft tanks will be delivered.
This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a press conference with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv.
«We have already delivered five IRIS-T systems, three Patriot, more than 50 Gepard. The sixth IRIS-T system will be delivered in December, along with launchers for Patriot and Gepard anti-aircraft tanks. And also next year, in 2025, we will continue to transfer air defense, howitzers, reconnaissance drones, artillery, six armed search helicopters,» he said.
The chancellor emphasized that Germany has become the second largest partner of Ukraine, having provided assistance in the amount of about 28 billion euros, second only to the United States.
As part of the new military aid, Germany will next year transfer six Sea King helicopters, howitzers, combat and reconnaissance drones, 10 Leopard 1A5 main battle tanks, 60 M84 and M80 infantry fighting vehicles and armored vehicles, 6,000 unguided and 500 guided missiles.
In addition, Scholz condemned Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.
«Germany has just provided emergency winter aid to Ukraine so that the worst damage can be quickly rebuilt and repaired,» he said.
It should be noted that the chancellor emphasized that Germany will not weaken its support for Ukraine.
«My message from Kyiv to Putin: We are in this for the long haul. Our support for Ukraine will not weaken. We will be close to the Ukrainian people — as long as it takes,» the chancellor wrote on the social network X.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine received budget aid from the Republic of Korea in the amount of 100 million dollars, which will be directed to support the social sphere.
