The Ukrainian military will receive 100 FPV drones from Latvia as part of the charity initiative «Drones for the Armed Forces».
According to the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia, the drones will be handed over to two Ukrainian military units under their coordination: The 21st Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard of Ukraine «Rage».
It is noted that the funds were raised, in particular, during the charity initiative of Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže, who ran the Riga Half Marathon in May 2024 and called on everyone to donate. The project is being implemented in cooperation with the Latvian charity foundation Ziedot.lv, and has raised about 130 thousand euros so far.
«The purchase of one such drone can destroy millions of dollars worth of enemy military equipment. Thus, we will help the Ukrainian defenders to inflict damage to the manpower and equipment of the Russian occupiers, while supporting the Latvian economy and local drone manufacturers», said Ambassador of Ukraine Anatolii Kutsevol.
Earlier, Defence Minister Rustem Umierov said that the Netherlands would provide Ukraine with a new batch of F-16 fighter jets this year.
