Boy's fingers blown off by explosives brought home by father in Mykolaiv region

A nine-year-old boy's fingers were recently blown off in Novyi Buh, Mykolaiv region, by a fuse he found when he was home alone.

According to the National Police in Mykolaiv region, explosives experts found debris, parts and the safety lever of the detonated UHG fuse at the scene.

The boy's father said he found the fuse on the outskirts of the village and brought it home.

«Dear parents! Do not leave your children unattended! Take care of their safety by following the rules of safe behaviour at home. Teach your children to be careful and tell them about the dangers of explosive devices and how to act when they are found», the police said.

Police have opened criminal proceedings over violations of the rules for the storage of explosives. Sanctions include up to seven years in prison. Investigative actions are ongoing.

Earlier it was reported that a 14-year-old boy died in Mykolaiv region after he hit a mine.
