President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reported «deliberate strikes» by Russia on energy facilities in Kherson, which left part of the city without electricity.

He said this in an evening address to Ukrainians.

«Today, the Minister of Defence of Ukraine reported on contacts with our partners, in particular with the American side. We have passed on all the necessary information about Russian violations in the energy sector. There have been strikes, and today there was another strike in Kherson: the use of a Russian drone against an energy facility and equipment was absolutely deliberate and purposeful. Part of the city was left without electricity», Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

He added that it was necessary to record the violation:

«We insist that every such violation must be recorded and a response must be received from our partners. It is these small details that make up Russia's big delays in the diplomatic process. The unconditional cessation of strikes proposed by the United States is not being implemented now only because of Russia's position».

What is known about the «30-day silence»?

On 11 March, a Ukrainian delegation met with US representatives in Saudi Arabia. After the meeting, the head of the President's Office, Andrii Yermak, said that Ukraine had expressed its readiness to accept the US proposal for a temporary ceasefire for 30 days.

For his part, Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukraine accepts the US proposal for a temporary ceasefire for 30 days, and now «if Russians agree, the silence will work».

Later, on 13 March, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he agreed with the proposal to end hostilities in Ukraine, but that this should guarantee «long-term peace».

In his turn, US President Donald Trump said that Vladimir Putin had made a promising statement, but it was not complete.

Later, the President's communications adviser, Dmytro Lytvyn, said that since 18 March, the Russian army had shelled Ukraine's energy facilities at least 8 times.
