This was reported to NikVesti by Kateryna Stokolias, press secretary of the municipal enterprise «Mykolaivpastrans».
The incident occurred on 28 April. According to her, both MAZ buses were at the stop one behind the other. When the driver of the front vehicle began to move according to the timetable, he mistakenly engaged reverse gear instead of moving forwards.
«In MAZ buses, gears are changed using buttons on the dashboard, and the buttons themselves are positioned very close to one another. Human error came into play; instead of the drive button, the driver pressed the reverse button. As a result, one bus moved backwards and collided with the bus behind it,» explained Kateryna Stokolias.
The collision resulted in damage to the windscreen of one of the buses. The vehicles sustained no other damage.
The patrol police were called to the scene, where they recorded the circumstances of the accident and compiled the relevant reports.
No one was injured in the accident, added Kateryna Stokolias. An internal investigation is currently underway, and the municipal transport company will take appropriate decisions based on its findings.
