A border detachment was attacked in Odesa region. Border guards shot one of the attackers.

The UP wrote about this with reference to the data of the spokesman of the SBGSU Andrii Demchenko.

It is noted that the attack took place in Marianivka, 15 kilometers from the Moldovan border, during the inspection of a vehicle in which, in addition to the driver, there were four other people.

Two people in the car began to run away in different directions, after which one of them attacked a serviceman. According to the source, the border guard was forced to use a weapon for self-defense. First he fired warning shots and then fired in the direction of the attacker. Emergency doctors confirmed the death of the man and injuries to the border guard.

«The information that began to spread on separate resources that the border guard opened fire with a pistol in pursuit of the fugitive is not true. The SBI, other law enforcement agencies and units of the prosecutor's office were notified of this fact. Urgent investigative actions are ongoing. Military personnel were not detained. I note that, unfortunately, this is not the first case of an attack on a border guard by violators, as a result of which servicemen are forced to use weapons to save their lives and health,» said Andrii Demchenko.

According to the UP source in the law enforcement agencies, the fugitives were four military deserters.

It will be recalled that on April 18, near the village of Zarichne in the Rivne region, two Ukrainians attacked border guards.
